What Is a Senior Crown?
Senior crowns are fun and creative way for seniors to celebrate their final year of high school and flex their senior status!
They're usually made from paper or cardboard crowns that students decorate to represent their personal style, interests, passions and personality. A lot like decorated senior parking spots, senior crowns are a great way for the senior class to express themselves while celebrating the milestone of becoming high school seniors.
When to Wear Senior Crowns
Every school and graduating class may do this a bit differently, but it’s a popular tradition for seniors to wear their senior crowns on the first day of school or even the whole first week of school. Other ideas include wearing senior crowns:
- Every Friday all year
- Every day during homecoming or spirit week
- To athletic events
- To all senior events likeSenior Nights, Senior Breakfast andSenior Car Parade
- On a certain day of the week, month or year to support an organization or cause
Whenever your senior class decides to wear their senior crowns, make sure you know your school’s dress code policies about hat and head covers and get permission to wear your crowns if needed.
How to Make A Senior Crown
If you're going to wear your crown at various events throughout the year, I recommend making two or three at once. You can make them all the same or create different designs for different occasions!
To make a senior crown you only need a few things:
- A paper or cardboard crown
- Adhesive
- Decorations
If you’re buying for a large group, you can get abulk package of white paper crownson Amazon.
Another option is to visit your local Burger King, ask for a crown and then turn it inside out. If you use a Burger King crown, just make sure you have supplies to paint the inside of the crown because it will be visible when you’re wearing it.
Ahot glue gunis ideal for attaching heavier/bulkier objects like artificial flowers, beads, stones or jewels. Basiccraft gluewill work well for paper and foam decorations.
If you decorate your senior crown with a photo or graphic collage, considerMod Podge, which acts as both glue and sealer. You can find a greattutorial for Mod Podge beginners at modpodgerocksblog.com.
The decorations are up to you and depend on the design your choose for your senior crown! Anything goes within the guidelines set out by your school of course.
